Work in-progress: An online viewer of the bani database. Authenticated by GitHub for suggesting changes. Shown as pull requests to our Database repo.
Tutorial pending.
Anyone with a GitHub account can help contribute content and accuracy to the database. If you wish to contribute to the source-code of the Database Viewer itself, please follow the contributing guidelines set out.
The below table lists various files used in correcting the bani portion of the database. The term proof does not indicate a 100% hard-truth. Over the many years in Sikh history, there have been multiple variations of the same text, even by the same publisher (e.g. SGPC), from mistakes in transpiling, incorrect printer set-ups, and human error. Therefore, documenting these multiplicities for the sake of transparency, reproducibility, and research purposes is encouraged.
If one would like to proofread the database, they may click on the corresponding link for a PDF. The compare the proof against the source (Shabad OS Database) using the online viewer.

In academia it is customary to include the URL of citations. This is to prevent confusion in case one of the proofs above is not actually the same as the physical source.
The viewer consists of two components: the backend, and the frontend. Each can be started independently, and are wrapped in their own containers.
To fire up both the frontend and backend, install Docker and run docker-compose up
.
You can also navigate to either folder individually, and run npm start
.
