This is a little perl POE wrapper around a C binary that watches a /dev/input/<someshit> interface for "keystrokes". These keystrokes are what the "StealthSwitch II" use under linux. So it allows you to tie foot pedal stomps to arbitrary perl methods. It works by just forking a copy of the C binary and watching it's STDOUT for press events, and then uses POE to trigger other tasks in a non-blocking fashion. I use it to ffw / rewind songs in rhythmbox through the rythmote plug-in; But the only limit is what you can make perl do. You *will* have to I/O "fence" your X11 configuration so that X11 doesn't grab the stealthswitch as a keyboard. (this actually the tricky part) there is an example xorg.conf (mine, actually) in docs that shows an example of using the "evdev" driver (instead of "kbd") and setting the "AutoAddDevices" ServerFlag to "false". That's about it.
