About this module:

This module was created for the Cross-cultural Biodiversity Surveys, based at Macquarie University, Department of Environmental Sciences, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. The project is based on a unique collaboration between scientists from Macquarie University and Aboriginal people in order to document, monitor and assess the cross-culture biodiversity in remote areas of New South Wales, with potential nationwide applications.

Authorship:

This module was co-developed by Dr Emilie Ens at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Macquarie University and Petra Janouchova at the FAIMS Project, Department of Ancient History, Macquarie University.

Funding:

Development of this module was funded by the Research Attraction and Acceleration Program (RAAP) NSW Department of Industry 16805/00, aimed to support innovation and investment in the New South Wales in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

This module contains the following FAIMS features:

  • validated fields with user observations
  • controlled vocabularies
  • coordinates from internal GPS
  • tracklog
  • audio and photo capture on device

This module can be used with no or minor modification for:

  • monitoring species diversity and spatial distribution over time
  • sampling DNA samples
  • recording Aboriginal cultural knowledge
