What is Amazon AWS WAF captcha?

AWS WAF CAPTCHA is a security feature provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) designed to protect websites and applications from automated bot attacks by incorporating CAPTCHA challenges. CAPTCHA, which stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart, is a type of challenge-response test used to determine whether the user is human.

This feature enhances the AWS Web Application Firewall (WAF) by allowing web administrators to set up rules that require users to solve CAPTCHA puzzles before their requests are processed. This is particularly useful for mitigating automated threats such as web scraping, credential stuffing, and layer 7 Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks.
