Special thanks to Andy Miller and everyone on the Grav team, the ever-helpful and supportive Grav community on Gitter and Bob Rockefeller, the author of the Grav Materialize theme.
By using a flat-file CMS (in this case Grav) and hosting the entire site on GitHub a whole new range of benefits are possible for both educators and students. For example, both code and content can be quickly updated in various ways while utilizing version control. In addition, and perhaps more importantly, students can also collaboratively participate in the creation and evolution of their own course site through the collaborative features provided by GitHub.
In a nutshell, it is about creating a learning environment that can be actively shaped by the learners within that environment. Mic drop.
