Maryland-Sewer-Overflow
The Maryland Reported Sewer Overflow Database contains bypasses, combined sewer overflows (CSOs) and sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) reported to the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) from January 2005 through the most recent update. MDE updates this database regularly. Although MDE requires that all public sewer system owners or operators report overflows to us, there may be incidents that were not reported. Note that overflow amounts provided by the person reporting the overflow may be estimated using best professional judgment or they may be actual readings from flow measurement devices when available.

The repository contains useful geo-spatial data on state healthy watershed designation for all seven jurisdictions in the Chesapeake Bay.
Bay-MS4-Areas
Polluted stormwater runoff is commonly transported through Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s), from which it is often discharged untreated into local waterbodies. To prevent harmful pollutants from being washed or dumped into an MS4, operators must obtain a NPDES permit and develop a stormwater management program.
Bay-Public-Access
Public access points are places anyone can visit to swim, hike, paddle or simply enjoy the history and natural beauty of the Chesapeake. Providing access to natural areas helps the public build a connection with the rivers, forests and wildlife of the Bay watershed. The repo contains data on all 1,122 public access sites in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed
Bay-Stream-Health
An effective way to measure the health of freshwater streams and rivers is to study the many tiny critters that live in these waters, called “benthic macro-invertebrates.” The abundance and diversity of snails, mussels, insects and other bottom-dwelling organisms are good indicators of the health of streams because they can’t move very far and they respond to pollution and environmental stresses. Benthic macroinvertebrates are generally harmed by direct and indirect effects of pollutants such as metals, acidity, sediment, pesticides, nitrogen and phosphorus. These pollutants come from sources such as mining, agriculture, urban and suburban runoff, automobile and power plant exhaust, and wastewater treatment facilities.

The following repository contains Bay-Wide watershed delineation ranging from HUC8 to HUC 12. Data was obtained through the NRCS Geo-Spatial Gateway. Maryland-AFOs
The following repository contains attribute information on Maryland Animal Feeding Operations (AFOs). Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) maintains these data through their Public AFO Search Tool, however our team at Chesapeake Commons works to ensure farm geographies and data are structured in an open format.
