This repository will be used exclusively to receive and manage suggestions from the public focused on how to enhance the CVE Program to better serve the broader community.
“Innovative ideas” and “new feature requests” can include programmatic rule/policy suggestions as well as innovative automation features that would support more efficient CVE Record publication and use.
Note that this is not meant as a bug reporting mechanism for the existing CVE Services, CVE Website, or other fielded components (e.g., CVE Services, Bulk Download, CVE JSON 5.0 schema definition). Reporting of bugs for existing CVE Program automation components should be done on the “Issues” boards associated with the appropriate application repository under the CVE Program GitHub Project.
To submit an innovative idea/feature request, follow these steps:
- Click the “Issues” tab located directly under the title of this repository in the upper left corner of the page.
- The Issues page pops-up. (Previously submitted issues will be viewable on this page.)
- Click the “New Issue” button in the upper-right corner of the Issues page.
- The “CVE Program New Automation Feature Request” page pops-up.
- Click the “Get started” button.
- The new issue template pops-up.
- In the “Title” field, enter a title that briefly describes your innovative idea or suggested feature.
- In the “Write” field, follow the instructions provided in the template.
- Once your submission is complete, click the “Submit new issue” button at the bottom of the form.
Once the innovative idea or new feature is submitted, it will be reviewed by the CVE Board (or its designated working group). The disposition of the innovative idea or new feature request can be tracked on the CVE Program Ideas/Feature Tracker. Questions about the innovative ideas or new features can be directed via email to the CVE Program Tactical Working Group .
