JavaScript Discord Recorder and Soundboard Bot (JS DRaSB) BETA

This is a Discord bot running on Node.js using discord.js library. It’s written to perform two main features:

Automatic voice recording: Automatically join channels and record audio to local files compressed with desired codec (using ffmpeg).
Soundboard (playing sounds on request): Joins a channel and plays sounds on request. Sounds can be either local files or YouTube links.

List of all features

Most of features listed here can be turned on/off in the config.js file. For example, you can use this bot only as a recorder without any soundboard functionality or as a soundboard only. Also, mind that currently bot can run for a single server only.

Automatically join and leave voice channels depending on amount of members or by user command.
Bot will start recording on any channel joining automatically
Queuing files or YouTube links for playing in sequence
Volume control is personal: if someone changes the volume level either while something is playing or bot is silent it will remember that level (even after bot restart) and will always play sounds requested by this user with that volume until he changes it.
You can play a short audio file while something long is playing: long sound will pause, short plays and then long resumes. Handy if you have music playing on the bot and you don’t want to stop it.
Can accept commands either globally anywhere or on a special channel only.
Bot will report requested audios and commands to a specified channel
You can use audio filters to distort or add an environmental sounding to any played file/link on the fly.

Installation

Bot requires Node.js with npm and FFMPEG, to use npm automatic installation you will also need building tools for compilation.

Tested on Linux Ubuntu 18.10 with Nodejs v8.11.4 and npm v5.8.0

First, install all dependencies

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nodejs npm ffmpeg build-essential

Navigate to the folder where you want your bot to be installed (I'm using /root/), clone git repository and run npm automatic installation to install all the libraries needed to run the bot (discord.js, node-opus, bufferutil, erlpack, fluent-ffmpeg and others).

Now, you need to create bot account:

Head over to the applications page here.
Click “new application”. Give it a name, picture and description.
Click “Create Bot User” and click “Yes, Do It!” when the dialog pops up.
Copy down the token.

Open config.js and paste the token in the 'token' value.

Ctrl+O, then Ctrl+X to save and exit. There are three values in config.js that are mandatory for bot to function: token, guildId and ReportChannelId. To get guildId and ReportChannelId you will need to switch Discord into developer mode and copy ID of your server and then desired channel using right-click. You are free to change any other options, make sure you read description on each value before you change it.

Running the bot

Use screen to run the application.

That’s it! It's running now! To detach from screen session, use Ctrl+A, then D. If you want to reattach running bot session use same command screen -aAxR -S jsdrasb To upload sound files to the bot you can either put them into 'sounds' folder or send them in Direct Message as an attachment. If audio format is unsupported it will be automatically converted. If its a video file, it will cut and save only audio from it.

Commands

Default command character is ?, all commands should start with it, but you can change it to anything in config.js file.

list (or files) Give list of all possible local files to play.
summon (or summonbot, join) Summons bot to your current voice channel.
pause (or hold, wait) Pause the playback
play (or proceed) Start playing the queue or play from paused moment if pause command was used before.
rejoin (resummon, restart) Bot will leave and join again. Development command, sometimes members dont hear the bot when it joins, this command helps.
volume [percent] (or v, vol, loudness) Will change you personal volume level to desired value. If something is playing right now: will also change the volume of currently playing audio. Example: v 30 will change volume to 30%. Mind that 100% here is the value set in VolumeBotGlobal config.js. If VolumeBotGlobal is set to 50.0, 100% here will be only half of the volume.
stop (or cancel, end) Stops the playback and cleans the entire queue.
queue [file/link] (or q, add, addnext) Add file or YouTube link to the queue. If something if playing right now it will automatically start after current audio, if not, you will have to use play command to start it.
skip (or next) Play next audio in the queue.
yt [link] (or youtube) Play audio from a YouTube link.
[filename] Play local audio file. Use list command to see all current files. Can use partial name.

Audio Filters and extra command flags

You can add these extra flags to youtube, [filename] and queue commands in any order:

volume[number] (or v, vol) Will play requested audio with this volume without changing your personal volume level. Example: ?somefile v90 will play 'somefile.mp3' with volume of 90%
[filtername] Will apply an audio filter (see table below). Examples: ?yt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ echo v90 play YouTube with volume of 90% and echo filter. ?funnynoise volume 100 pitch 20 play funnynoise.mp3 with volume of 100% and increased pitch by 20%. ?something pl play file something.mp3 with low pitch

Filter	Description
`pitch` [change%]	Change pitch by the specified percent value. Limits from -50 to 50. Default is 40.
`pitchlow` (or `pl`)	Same as `pitch -40`
`pitchhigh` (or `ph`)	Same as `pitch 40`
`vibrato` [frequency] [scale] (or `vib`, `cry`)	Adds vibration with desired frequency in Hz and influence percentage scale. Default is 10 Hz and 50%
`echo`	Add echo
`pot`	Like it sounds from a pot
`telephone` (or `phone`)	Sound through a phone
`tube`	Sound through a vacuum cleaner tube
`bath`	Sound through iron bath
`can`	Sound through a can
`iron`	Ironish sound
`horn`	Through a horn

You don't have to specify number after the effect or can specify just first one.
