React 18 support

React 18 has been released, but at the moment, the version range in peerDependencies prevents it from being used with this package.
I would have made a PR directly, but I'm not sure if any other changes need to be made. Perhaps someone more comfortable with the codebase can advise (or make the changes themselves if that's faster)? Thanks!
Shipped v3.0.1 with this!
