Filerun free isn't available for (new) users anymore

Filerun free isn't available anymore. Unfortunately there aren't that many good alternatives. For my use case (photo sync) I replaced it with Immich.

Actually, Filerun is still available for personal use.
Not all software should be free. Filerun is fantastic, unbeatable at many fronts. A huge amount of hours has been put in its 2023 version development (PHP8.x built from the ground up).. So ofcourse, makes sense that comes with a reward.
Lots of free users wanted free support and became very demanding. So I totally understand the change. Especially since the new personal license is only a one-time fee of €99 and includes lifetime free updates.
This license should not effect your current limit on # of users.

I celebrate this change. We will get much more dedication, faster releases, big feature updates etc with this change.

No it isn't. Only for existing users. And how would (new) users of this repo know this?

Until the dev throws another hissyfit and rethinks this change. I would argue a single point of failure like this is a pretty big risk. Especially since he also pulled the Reddit community and Docker images.

Also I cannot read your linked topic:

Anyway. I don't care either way, because I moved on. But I just wanted to make you aware of it.

I wouldn't call it a hissyfit. It's been an ongoing topic for a while. But a single developer is definitely a risk yes, absolutely right about that.
I thought he updated the pricing section of the website. Will ask what that is about.
I will probably include Immich in my setup anyway + add to this guide. I looked at the project a while ago but it seems a lot more usable now. Not sure if the syncing is trustworthy already, but will definitely start playing with it.
It's sadly not a replacement for Filerun/webDAV. My users and me sync much more than just photos and videos. Also complete user profiles (Documents, Desktop, Music, Templates, Pictures, phone backup).

@alex3305
The new non-enterprise Personal license is now added to the Filerun website:

I tried Immich and its really promising for photos. But its not a file management webservice at all. So it does not compete with Filerun/NextCloud etc. Immich development is going fast, but I doubt it will ever go beyond its current scope. I will definitely add it to my Compose and this repository, not as Filerun alternative, but in addition to. They lack a bit of documentation to get it working without redundant web proxy, but there is a closed issue that contains the necessary info to make it work with Caddy. I will probably add it after the northern hemisphere summer when I have more time.
