2-col or 3-col on iPad?

The layout on landscape iPads (1024px wide) is not ideal, because the center column is so narrow.
See zetkin/www.zetk.in#210 for example.
Postponing to R16 cycle and hoping it will make it into the next weekly, which is R15.1.
