Since the example ran over the free tier, (see #2 ) I've been trying to deploy my own instance on Digital Ocean's app platform. Can anyone with a bit more Django experience shed some light on what the deployment process would be?

Currently I'm getting through the build process, but running into an error in the deploy section with it not finding the gunicorn command. DO's documentation suggests that to deploy Django applications you need to use that command to run the application, but it's running into issues.
