Sorry couldn't figure out a way to comment on your github.io page.
Check out gentoo bug # 469210.
x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers is even worse -- it tries to write to /.
If you apply the last 2 patches from TJ (or really just the last patch), you wouldn't have to give additional access to any of the packages.
What I did (which is probably completely illegal) is I added patched version of linux-info.eclass to my ::holliday repo and created symlinks for offending packages into ::gentoo repo.

thanks for the reference! I still don't want to hack the eclass file (and link "broken" packages to my overlay) and will wait for the bug resolution :)
