Issues reconnecting the MCU

After setting up the KASUBA ADXL and following the steps below, i got it to work perfectly the first time.
However, upon unplugging it and putting it away for a while, I wasnt able to get it going again easily. I am finding myself having to run through all the steps again before it will randomly decide to show up as an MCU USB device.
Seems like a bit of work to get it going again after unplugging it. Is this the way it is supposed to be or am I missing something?
EDIT: User error, have additional USB devices plugged in which have changed the port ID they are connected to.
