Enable "Smartypants" extension?

Since draft.sx makes Markdown gists look great on the web 👍, how about making them look really great?
Gruber designed the Smartypants "plug-in" for Markdown (so it has that level of "canonicity"), and there is a Python extension for it. (I think draft.sx uses Python Markdown?)
Hopefully this would make for a painless, subtle, yet significant enhancement 🙏 😁 to this very welcome service.
