This is a website to show the currently playing song in the Top 2000. My instance is running at https://top2000.wimiso.nl.
The Top 2000 is an annual event on the Dutch radio station Radio 2 where listeners can vote on the songs they like most; then the 2000 best songs are played. See this site.
The website uses Node.js. The server-side fetches the currently-playing song from the Radio 2 site and matches it to the Top 2000 song list. It also does some further processing. Then, clients just get this information from the server and display it.

The installation procedure varies based on how the server is setup but should look something like this:
- Clone this repository:
git clone https://gitlab.com/Willem3141/top2000-viewer.git - Install dependencies:
npm install - Edit
config.jsonto contain the correct port and the server timezone (see below) - Run the application:
node index.js
To ensure that the correct hour is shown in the overview, it is necessary to set the server timezone in the configuration. (This also used to be necessary to ensure that song start and stop times were interpreted correctly, but the current Radio 2 API returns those times in UTC.) The tz setting in config.json should be set to the number of hours that the server timezone is different from Dutch local time (Europe/Amsterdam). In other words, if your server has its timezone set to UTC, this should be -1; if it uses the Dutch timezone itself, it should be 0. Note that the timezone of your development system (for doing local testing) may be different from the server timezone, so you should have a separate config.json file for development and production (also because the port may be different).
