the documentation, I went to the link for checking your first EPUB. It is at:
https://w3c.github.io/publishing/epubcheck/docs/running
I received a 404 error.

the canonical URL of that page should be https://www.w3.org/publishing/epubcheck/docs/running/
Do you remember from where you accessed that page?
Internal links in the EPUBCheck website are known to only work when accessed via the w3.org domain (and not via gitHub.io). This is tracked in #1268.

Hi,
The link is on https://w3c.github.io/epubcheck/docs/installation/
And the link is about checking your first EPUB:
installation of EPUBCheck… congratulations! You can now try to check a first EPUB publication.
If anything went wrong and you could not install EPUBCheck, do not worry! We do not want to let you down… You can probably get help, or maybe try using EPUBCheck with a third-party graphical user interface?
Best
George
