If you don't yet support crx version 3, just skip the signature key length (AND signature key) unless the version is <= 2 as shown here: https://github.com/poikilos/uncrx/blob/master/uncrx.py#L116

Hi also get a 0-byte zip file with the following crx file (from a French grammar/spellchecker)
Adaptateur Google Chrome.crx

It does indeed work, at least with the file I was interested in.
The issue is resolved for me.
