Book Search Application

This is a simple React application for searching books using the Open Library API and managing a personal bookshelf.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have the following installed on your machine:

Installation

  1. Clone the repository

    git clone https://github.com/yourusername/book-search-app.git
    cd book-search-app
  2. Install dependencies

    Using npm:

    npm install

    Or using Yarn:

    yarn install

Running the Application

  1. Start the development server

    Using npm:

    npm start

    Or using Yarn:

    yarn start
  2. Open your browser and navigate to

    http://localhost:3000
    

    This will open the application in your default browser.

Usage

  1. Search for Books

    • Type in the search input to find books.
    • Results will appear as you type.
  2. Add Books to Bookshelf

    • Click on "Add to Bookshelf" to add a book to your personal bookshelf.
    • Your bookshelf is stored locally using localStorage.
  3. View Your Bookshelf

    • Click on "My Bookshelf" link to view all books you have added to your bookshelf.

Troubleshooting

  • If you encounter issues with dependencies, try deleting the node_modules folder and package-lock.json (or yarn.lock), then reinstall dependencies:

    rm -rf node_modules package-lock.json
    npm install

    Or using Yarn:

    rm -rf node_modules yarn.lock
    yarn install
