DEC Community Suggestions (socials, reach etc.)

Just going to make a generic to do list of things suggested by the community:

  • More in person socials; currently we do one in June time (Data Week) and another before Christmas. Perhaps we could look to having one in September at the start of term? Or before the Easter break.
  • Attract more industry folks; think about occasional evening events/more in person things?
  • Is DEC skewed too young? Do we want more people from different demographics (e.g. older)?
  • Is the pitch for DEC too aimed at Data Scientists and not enough at Data Engineers or Analysts? (Liam had this idea, might be a good person to talk to)
