Can't run Hyper after Node install

I reinstalled the latest version of Node (20.1.0) on MacOS (12.6.5 Monterey). Since then I have been unable to run Hyper - it just opens a blank window, then the window disappears.
I have tried completely deleting Hyper (including Application Support settings) and reinstalling, but the exact same issue is reproduced.
Any idea what the problem might be?
