Does this DNS trick still work in the latest version of Bedrock (1.17.30.04)?

I am not using this approach exactly, but something similar, and when I try to join one of the featured servers (Lifeboat), I get "Invalid IP address!" So, I'm wondering if this loophole has been patched in the latest version. Can anyone verify that it still works in 1.17.30.04 with the approach described in this repo?
My problem was with the configuration I was trying to set up (using DNS Server with Synology NAS). I was able to get that configuration working and can confirm that this still works with Bedrock 1.17.30.04.
