coins missing

opened a wallet on adalite, transferred my cardano from coinbase to my new wallet (adalite) along with my ledger. Scanned my address code. Sent coins and when the coins never showed up, went back to coinbase and saw a different address that the coins were sent too.

Hello @Leocat07! I'm Ben from AdaLite Support Team.

Did you create a mnemonic wallet (where you enter a 15-word phrase to open the wallet) and also connect your Ledger too? If so, then you have two separate wallets with different receiving addresses; could you please check each wallet separately to see if the funds arrived? You can see your wallet's transaction history on the left side of the Send tab.

If you can't find the funds, please copy/paste the transaction ID (which you'll find in your Coinbase transaction history), and also send me the receiving addresses for any wallets you have (mnemonic, which uses a 15-word phrase, and hardware wallets too) and I'll investigate.

Thanks!
Ben

@Leocat07
Thank you for the update. I've addressed your points below:

"I'm not seeing it. I also am not seeing it on my ledger live."
==> Ledger Live is the software used to manage your device (for things like firmware upgrade and for installing apps) but this software doesn't display your ADA balance: you need to use AdaLite for this. Did you connect your Ledger to AdaLite, Unlock it and check the account to see if the 40 ADA arrived there?

"I did another transaction for just $5.00 to see if it would go to the address of my wallet and that transaction showed up in my adalite wallet."
==> Did this $5 worth of ADA arrive in your mnemonic wallet account? (that's the wallet that you access using the 15-word phrase)

"Are you needing my mnemonic for Adalite account and my nano S?"
==> NO! NEVER EVER share your 15-word mnemonic phrase or your Ledger's 24-word recovery phrase with anybody, not even a technical support agent. Nobody except you should know this, and you should store it offline, ideally written down several times on paper and stored separately. If someone else knows this, they can easily steal your funds. Don't ever share these details with anyone under any circumstances! If someone asks you for this information (e.g. they say they're from customer support), block them and report them.

"I was confused to why it went to a different address than what I actually scanned."
==> As I said above, please access your Ledger wallet using AdaLite (and not Ledger Live) and see if the funds are there. If they're not there, double check your 15-word mnemonic wallet again to be doubly sure, and then get back to me if you still can't find the funds.

@Leocat07 Also, do you use the Passphrase feature on your Ledger?

@Leocat07 Okay, thanks for the update. Could you also read my earlier message and let me know the answer to some of the questions there too?

If you access your mnemonic wallet and the funds aren't there AND you access your Ledger's wallet and the funds aren't there either, AND if you don't have any other Cardano wallets except those two, I think this could be passphrase related.

There's an article (linked below, and taken from NuFi's website but it's relevant to Ledger users) that explains how even a minor change in Passphrase opens a completely different wallet (e.g. accidentally using a capital letter when you didn't last time, or adding an additional space before or after). Please read the article and then -- if you think passphrase may be the cause -- try variations like the ones shown as examples in the link:

Please take a look and let me know your thoughts.

@Leocat07 Great, I'm glad you found the funds! Yes, your mnemonic and Nano are two separate wallets. From here, I recommend sending funds from your mnemonic wallet to your Ledger and storing everything in your Ledger's wallet.

To do this, connect with your Ledger and find the receiving address on the Receive tab (you can use the first one shown). Then, access your mnemonic wallet and transfer the funds to this address. Send a small test amount first if you're not yet confident making transactions, and then, when you're confident, send whatever funds you have in your mnemonic to your Ledger.

Let me know if I can help with anything else.
