Hi, First of all THANK YOU! that someone is looking into and trying to fix this issue!

Main goal was to get the volume and other media buttons to work on the latest Windows10 Release (Dec. 2020).

We have the Apple Magic Wireless Keyboard with NumberPad.

I tried installing the latest Apple BootCamp Keyboard drivers, ... no media keys are available!

Uninstalled Bootcam drivers and tried this little GitHib driver ... same story... nothing changed.

Maybe the way I installed it is wrong. I downloaded the KeyboardDriver.zip and run the DPinst.exe. Nothing changed, no media key is enabled!

Not sure how to install it. Do I need to download the Binaries.zip as well? I could not figure it out. I also tried to install the .inf file via the Windows Settings/Keyboard/Driver/... This driver is not accepted.

I have the same issue.

I would like to share the steps that I did to install it. Please do this at your own risk. Also, let me know if there is a better way. Below are the steps that I took and I was able to map Fn keys :)

  1. Download Binaries.zip and DriverKeyboard.zip from here
  2. Extract both folders and put them in a new folder called AppleWirelessKeyboard - You could call this anything
  3. Navigate to Program Files in your C drive - C:\Program Files
  4. Paste the AppleWirelessKeyboard folder in it
  5. Install the driver C:\Program Files\AppleWirelessKeyboard-2.0.19\DriverKeyboard and follow the prompts
  6. Run the program C:\Program Files\AppleWirelessKeyboard-2.0.19\Binaries\win-x86\AppleWirelessKeyboardCore
  7. Click the bottom right to show all the background apps
  8. Right-click on AppleWirelessKeyboard and choose configure
  9. Toggle the tab to Bindings and you should be able to map your keys
Have fun with your new keyboard!

Thanks for sharing! Will give it a try.

Does not work for me. The buttons doesnt work and when i restart the app over the context menu, the app does not restart.

I followed your instructions and was able to get the GUI to appear, however I'm not sure how to remap the fn key to the ctrl key. An image of the GUI is below:

worked for me as well thx @vchan14

why the configuration is reset everytime i restart this app, by exit, open. Confused.

Thanks for the instructions - I was also a little baffled. I have this working now on our HTPC in the TV room, and it enabled us to eliminate two other remotes, long a personal quest of mine! I agree it would be very helpful to just take these directions and put them in the readme.

Hi all, thanks for the great instructions @vchan14! I have submitted a PR with these installation instructions plus the .NET requirement found in this issue.

@vchan14
I am on Windows 11 and using Mac Wireless keyboard gen2 (MLA22LL/A)
I have installed the driver, run the AppleWirelessKeyboardCore but seems fn key is still not active.

I tried other approcahes I foudn in the web, for example BootCamp drivers, but looks like none of them allow to recognize Fn key.
What I did wrong?

P.S. as I understood FMode is same as Fn + Key, right? By default, to toggle it I need to presss F13 (Eject) but this key is not regonized by Windows 11 also.
