npm test fails

i ran:
truffle unbox drizzle
truffle compile
cd app
npm test

the error is:

FAIL  src/App.test.js
Test suite failed to run

i have done this on two different computers, running windows 10 and linux mint. Running npm install doesnt change it. Is there an installation I'm missing or something? apologies if im missing something obvious
