-And are you sure that it works at 1Gbps with the vendor's firmware?
Unfortunately the router network leds color don't show the actual link speed.
-Have you tried another network cable? Please try another cable, marked as
cat-6e
-Please post the output of the following command:
ethtool eth0

I am having a similar issue as OP. I have two DNS-323's both with RC3. Oddly
enough I even have the same router.
I recently acquired box2 (came with D-link software and I flashed RC3)and was
comparing all the settings to set them up the same and noticed my old one
(box1) at the low speed (never paid attention before so I am unsure if it has
always been this way?).
New one works at 1000 mbits (box2), the old one 10 mbit/s (box1). I tried
swapping the cables then rebooting everything, same thing.
Results of ethtool eth0 - Please forgive me, my command line knowledge is very
near zero. With the help of this wiki I've been able to muddle through
everything but this issue....

What are the boxes revision levels? A1, B1 or C1? (It can be seen at the Status
Page, System section, under "Device", and confirmed at the box bottom-attached
label)
> the old one 10 mbit/s (box1)
Not even 100? What is "Duplex:" showing?
As for ethtool, it is an Alt-F disk-installable package, you have to install it.

Thanks for taking the time to help! I will be traveling for business in the
next few days but I might be able to remote in to try other things.
Installable package you say? I bet that's why it couldn't find it...
Both are B1 revision confirmed in both Status and looking at the boxes labels.
Nope, not even 100.
Results of ethtool eth0 look the same to me except for the "Speed"?

If exchanging network cables *and* switch or router ports between the two boxes
didn't help, then a hardware flaw exists in the box!
But 10Mbps (we are talking of bits, not Bytes) is too low, as it translates to
~1 Mega Byte per second -- is that your real transfer speed? You would notice
that even if accessing the box through wifi!

I'll try it again once I get home and use ports I know from the router show up
as 1000. Is there anything special I need to do to the boxes to get them to
recognize it or is rebooting everything enough?
Actually, now that you mention 1MB/sec yes that is the actual transfer speed.
My desktop is gigabit and box2 is gigabit. I am transferring nearly a terabyte
to box2 and it's been running for over 2 days and has quite a ways to go and if
I recall the speed listed in the windows dialog (yeah, I know I should be able
to transfer direct from box1 to box2) shows 1 MB/sec plus or minus just a
little.
I've never really had a need to push things, all I ever do is play video files
from a set top box and store a few tons of pictures.

Tried more different ports, and just for grins I even went to far as to swap
out all my cables with known working cables from a friend. Box1 still shows as
10.
Based on what you said earlier sounds like I'm out of luck trying to get it up
to proper speed?

Hi there,
Same issue confirmed here with some comments. I have a B1 box and I've
installed latest Alt-F-0.1RC3 this week. HW shows 1000 but I can not get more
than 1,4MB/s.
Any ideas ?
Thanks

@bemccomish: all other things being equal, it seems clear that there is a flaw
in the box.
It is either an electronic or a mechanical box connector flaw. Verify the
network female plug in the box for loose or twisted pins (unplug the cable and
look inside the box female connector).
No more clues, sorry.
@jmiguel.diez: if it shows 1000mbps it is a different issue, not this one: "100
mbit/s link on DNS-323".
Your transfer speed indicates that you are transferring over wifi.

I appreciate the help even if we couldn't fix it. Thanks!
