README does not show preview on github

- I have visited the source website, and in particular
read the known issues - I have searched through the issue tracker for duplicates
The source website takes longer to load than other github repos and shows the message:
This preview took too long to generate.
But you can view the raw file.
GitHub always attempts to render these previews if the files are small (generally less than 2 MB) and the README.rst is 52.7 KB
Looks like some ongoing chaos across GitHub for all *.rst rendering: https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/113792
