png and pngcairo gnuplot terminals

gnuplot comes with cairo terminal by default on Ubuntu and on Mac it can be installed with it if the following arguments are used

brew install gnuplot --wx --cairo --pdf --with-x

So, is there the possibility to check for pngcairo and using it, if it exists, instad of the deprecated png terminal?
