Magisk Manager constantly replaces itself with the stub

After "hiding" the magisk app, I accidentally uninstalled it. Now when I try to install the app back, it is immediately replaced with a ~100kb stub with version 1.0 and tell me to "download the full version". Then it either stucks at "Downloading magisk" or once again replaces itself with the stub.
The stub app also automatically shows up when the device is rebooted, but it doesn't help.
What should I do to help with this situation? Thanks in advance.
Seems that the real cause is that I installed Magisk with the F-droid version, so I can only install the manager from F-droid.
Why is that the case though? What should I do if I want to move to the GitHub version?

F-Droid builds are not official. We don't know what is changed in their builds, so we cannot provide any support for unofficial versions.
