Contributing to update

I've tried updating the master branch's packages to the latest versions, got as far as a successful serve.
Got a bunch of error during render that i'm not gonna even try to touch. Most of them are from Vuetify (Major Version change, would probs haunt my nightmares for the next 3 days).
My question is, what am i supposed to do if i wanna share these in a new branch? Do i create a PR first or what? Kinda newb at git. Only ever pushed and pulled to my own private repos.
