Switch to previous app stopped working on Android 11

Switch to previous app stopped working after my phone got updated to Android 11 (Poco X3 Miui). It only shows recent apps when triggered.
(Please note: this problem is common in other geastures app too. But there is force switch app option in this app (Edge gestures) which solves this issue.)
I have a similar issue on Android 10 too. Switching to the previous app works intermittently - sometimes yes, sometimes no.
