USB-C for connecting halves

j-hap opened this issue · comments

Hi,

this is more of a suggestion than an issue. USB-C supports 24 pins, so more than enough to connect the halves and the cables are usually more flexible and have a smaller connector. Maybe not as cheap though (cable and port), that I did not yet check.

disclaimer: I did not build or try the cheapino with RJ45 yet.

Hi, yeah this is possible, but like you say, its more expensive. The connector for usb c is also more tricky to solder, especially if you need 12(I think this is the most common max) pins.

In addition, most usb cables just have 4 strands(simple data), some even just 2(charging only).

And then there is the issue of users plugging in regular usb cables into the inter-halves ports...
