Page subfolders and "baseurl" breaks layout

The current policy in the layout seems to use a flat directory structure. Not using this approach and setting baseurl breaks the layout.
Is it worth proposing a MR that generalize the usage of | relative_url for all paths ?
We already do this for our site and it's working great.
