hyperlink hoverable/clickable area offset by half a character to the left

the hoverable/clickable area of hyperlinks get offset and are half a character too far on the left, and half a character not far enough on the right.
this is easiest to see when there's a tab in front of a hyperlink ... hover your mouse up to half the tab width to the left of the hyperlink, and you'll still get the hyperlink cursor. on the right side of the hyperlink, on the other hand, half of the last character isn't hoverable (although this is less evident).
Having used Tomboy for at least 15 years I can't say I've noticed this before but @blujistoi is right. What I think is actually happening is that the white space character before a link is included in the 'clickable' area but the white space character after the link is not.
oh, i forgot to mention when i most often notice this, and why it bugs me ... i often observe this issue when i go to select the hyperlink text -- my habit is to click and drag from the left to highlight the text which i intend to copy, but the hyperlink cursor shows up instead of the i-beam, which makes me think i can't do it
