Add boxes to vagrantcloud.com

Do you have any plans to add the boxes to vagrantcloud.com?

If it were legal I would, but I'm almost certain it is not and would be a violation of the license. OS X is free now but it is still "purchased" for personal use and is not any less illegal to distribute.

I'll look into it, though, it would be good to know for sure.

Thanks for the quick response.

Section 2.B.ii seems to be the only reference to virtualisation. It looks like if you have a copy of the OS from the AppStore then you can run up to 2 virtual instances.

What the license doesn't really discuss is distribution. There is one reference to it right at the top in the section marked "IMPORTANT NOTE", but that is all I could find.

The virtualization bit has been around since the disappearance of OS X Server as a separate build of the OS, and it's not that I'm concerned about - it's really just to do with the proper channels to get access to the OS.

Section H. on page 3:

"You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute or sublicense the
Apple Software."

I have to assume this precludes providing a ready-built VM of it on a public website, even if just for testing, and knowing that it will still only run on Apple hardware (without modifications).

Note that there's currently a 10.9.2 box listed on Vagrantbox.es, and the link to the box on Vagrant Cloud is dead. I'm not sure if this was requested to be taken down.

All this is to say that while I don't really have any interest in doing this, there's nothing stopping anyone else who might want to. I'll close the issue now but if there's more interesting info that makes this worth revisiting, we can re-open it.

I don't know anything about the legality of re-distributing VMs of Windows Server, even if non-activated. Would be interested in knowing whether anyone is authorized to do so...
