Looking for new maintainer

As I'm no longer using this library and Elm itself, it is time for Elm Collage to get some love from somebody else. Is there anybody willing to take over, maintain the library and help keeping Elm Collage alive?

Hi.

collage is cool, and is up to date, and in good shape. I could take it on.

I've been using Elm since 0.17, and a small package like collage has the right kind of scope for me to be able to handle it.

Happy to chat some.

Kind Regards,

Carlton

I'd also be interested, either as maintainer or as someone who could help out. Have been using Elm for three years now and am the author of various packages of the form jxxcarlson/*. Here are two examples of these packages in use that do not require a login:

The last one is only a day old, so is a little on the rough side. But here is something visual:

Would like to know a bit more about the time commitment. I can devote a lot of time in spurts, but also have a number of balls I am constantly juggling to keep airborne.

That said, I really like your project: that it is visual, and that the code is very clean. I've looked at several of the examples in addition to a bit of the source for the package. It would be both fun and instructive (to me) to work on.

Re code size, here is the data on my pure Elm markdown parser:

Language files blank comment code
Elm 14 1260 423 2974

Your package is well within the range that I've worked on.

Likewise happy to chat. (re time zone, I am in Paris until August, then back in the US).

You can DM me on the Elm Slack as jxxcarlson, or reach me by email at jxxcarlson@gmail.com. Twitter is @epsilon2718. I check the latter once a day, the first one somewhat more often.

Hi Carlton! Hi James!

Good to see you're both interested in taking over. As there are two of you, it makes it more difficult for me to pick one of you as the next maintainer of Elm Collage.

I see James has quite some background in Elm and a little bit of other functional languages. I couldn't find any Elm projects on your GitHub Carlton. Do you have experience with functional languages? Do you like to learn more about it? Although Elm Collage is not a big library, it contains some quit some functional aspects you'll need to deal with.

I am also interested,
as someone who could help out ...

My elm experience:

Hi @timjs. I think @jxxcarlson is much more qualified. He's likely the safer option for you. I'm competent enough with Elm, and am learning more of functional approach as I go. My assessment of elm-collage was that it was just the right scale and complexity for me to manage and learn from. No-issues either way. Thanks for your efforts!

Hi all,

I'm very sorry for not responding earlier.

I think @jxxcarlson has the most experience. Do you still like to take over?

Hi @timjs — just following up here. Did you ever resolve the maintenance issue?

Hi @carltongibson. No actually. I'm trying to merge some pull request now and then, that's all.

OK, well, I'd still be available to help out if you like…

As I said before, I'm not an FP guru, but elm-collage is about the right size package for me to be able to manage as a personal growth project. (Not too big, and sufficiently interesting.)

I'll make a point to hang around over the summer. Perhaps we can review in the fall. Thanks for your efforts!

@carltongibson: would you like to participate in the merge request #44 or shall we wait till the fall to do some reviewing? Summer is maybe not the best time because of diverging availability.

Hey @timjs - Yes it's hot 🥵 now, and I'm in Spain where we have another COVID wave, but (assuming no rush) let me play with it. (Seems like a nice feature on the surface...)

Thanks.
