Table of Contents improvement for .mobi

buwilliams opened this issue · comments

I read all my books on the Kindle app. Currently, only the main chapters are shown in the table of contents but there isn't a way to skip to sub-sections (the meat being in Types of Tests.) Not being able to skip to say Feature Specs is frustrating. The content of the book is great so keep up the good work!

@trevororeilly any ideas here?

Thanks for jumping on this guys!

I'll check it out (hopefully later this week) and see what we can do. Thanks for the heads up.

Hm, just checked this out on the Kindle for Mac app and it seems to be working how you'd like:

@buwilliams What kind of Kindle are you seeing the problem on?

@trevororeilly I'm seeing something pretty different. Puzzling.

Gotcha, you're talking about the built-in TOC sidebar. I did some testing with a variety of books and it looks like it's just a limitation of that viewer to only display top-level sections.

My screenshot above was from the in-book TOC which does show subsections. The quickest way to get there is by using either the "Go" menu or toolbar dropdown button.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for looking into this! You guys have made a very good book that I'm already recommending to others.
