No audio with USB-C HDMI adapter

Hello,

Have my XPS13/9360/i7-8550u/16GB on Mojave 10.14.6 using kexts from here and almost everything is working, including built-in audio, touchpad, etc.

However, when using a USB-C to HDMI adapter video works but no options to route audio over HDMI show up. Using "QGeeM" brand adapter.

I've definitely got audio over HDMI working before. But the adapter and TV brand matter.

Is there something I can do to debug? Is there an adapter brand you remember that works consistently? Do I need to try any steps outlined by bozman88 in that URL?
