Clear method on the surface / writer classes?

When I'm clicking somewhere outside the Surface we should be able to remove the cursor along with changing the focus (set the parent controller as active)
just not sure where this should go. (implementing links currently)
Hmm.. actually when adding a link the cursor + selection should be preserved.. also after hitting enter the surface should again listen for keystrokes.. have to do some more testing.
