How does one create a sub folder?

Problem Statement

Prior to v3.10.0, there were two ways to create tags ( now called folder).

  1. Using add tag field. Just by adding a dot [ . ], in between folder names, a new tag was created.
  2. Next to the folder name, there were these 2 buttons of + and -, working as addition and deletion of the folder.

With introduction of folders with v3.10.0, both the above mentioned ways fail. The only way creating a nested folder works is via dragging, which is extremely tedious for a heavy user like me having over 650 tags and growing.

Am I missing something here which I should be aware of and not know?

Proposed Solutions

  1. Enable the earlier ways which are not working anymore.
  2. The add button next to Folder text, should create a folder inside the selected folder and respect the hierarchy.
  3. Rather than dots being a separator, a trailing slash could neatly create sub-folders.

I would like to hear it from devs as I tried emailing support & discord for this issue which is handicapped me from using SN.

I too have this problem. How do I create subfolders in the new system without having to create a folder at the root level and then having to drag them to the place I want?

We'll be introducing a way to add subtags sometime in the next few weeks hopefully.

I would urge to fast track this request because v3.10.0 has broken an existing feature. I am not sure how most people use the application but to me this seems pretty big. A note without a correct tag is a lost note.

same problem!

Create subfolder as previously :same very disturbing problem for me... with several thousand of tags...
Additional problem: I used dots in some tag names: result new tags spilled en two tags - I have to repair this manually!!!
Third issue: we lost the colored circles, very useful to navigate in the hierarchy of tags!!!

splitted not spilled!

Me too. I have close to a hundred notes that had dot in their tags (basically a dot in folder name) and now they all are under subfolders of their own. I am dreading having to fix them myself one by one.
