UI defective under Fedora 38

I have some UI problems that make SonoBus unusable with a fresh Fedora 38 installation. Under Ubuntu 23.04 everything was fine.
Problems:
- The submenu items don't appear or just flash shortly when I click on a menu entry
- I can't open any of the audio selection dropdowns when I open the settings via the gear icon
- The exit warning notification while still connected to a session doesn't appear and the app doesn't close
I have the same results with the 1.6.2 Flathub version and when I build the main branch from scratch.
Would be nice if anyone else with Fedora 38 could report their experiences.

Ok, I was able to narrow it down a bit.
I was able to successfully reproduce it in a VM. The fresh install didn't have this problem, but a system update breaks the app then.
I also experience this bug running under Gentoo with Wayland. Additionally, I noticed that clicking any UI results in messages like this spamming the syslogs:
Window manager warning: Buggy client sent a _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW message with a timestamp of 0 for 0x1000008
