pgcmd seems great and I would love my students to use it. The first thing we do in the semester is setting up the pgpass file which makes a lot of stuff easier. It would be great if pgcmd would support that file as well (https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/libpq-pgpass.html)
I haven't tried it but it probably works through the dependencies. Sorry.
