Support for downloading projects [request]

I know this is a duplicate of #192, however, it was marked as completed yet there is no documentation on how to accomplish this. If this feature does exist now, then please update the documentation. Otherwise, please consider adding this feature.

I understand that it would be ideal for people to use their own VCS for projects, but in life that is not always how it works. I have inherited some sites that the original files are nowhere to be found and I can imagine countless other scenarios that would be out of an individual's control where such a simple feature would be greatly helpful.
