Caprine cannot save images directly

Caprine is thought as a replacement of Messenger, and thus should contain all the functions of it. Unfortunately, it does not allow to save images sent in the conversation, and the only possibility is to open a browser and to save the image from there. Messenger has the function of saving images built in. If Caprine is to replace Messenger, it should also save images without any browser.

It's likely a bug.

On Caprine, it was created before the official Messenger app so it's not a replacement but an effort to bring Messenger with desktop-like experience to the users. Messenger was built using Electron a few years ago but was then rewritten and is a native app for Windows and macOS now. That made the app to have great performance and minimal resource usage, not to mention the official APIs.

Oh, it IS a bug, for sure, not only “likely”. From the practical user’s view: it is impossible to only use Caprine instead of Messenger as long as it does not learn how to save images. If it was a problem from the point of view of minimal resource usage, the users would have been given a choice: to switch the function of saving pictures on, even if it would mean the loss of resources, or to switch the function off in order to save resources.

Caprine is presented as an alternative for Messenger (not important what is the real aim of its coders) which is “feature complete” (see for instance https://www.techspot.com/downloads/7393-caprine-facebook-messenger.html). Without key features, it is no alternative. So I really expect the coders to add the missing function, no matter how much additional system load this will cause for users who will enable this feature.
