Destroy favorite API call only works for recent favorites

The destroy favorite API call will destroy up to your 3000 most recent favorites but not any that are older. This is not a rate limit issue but occurs even if you wait a few days between batches. The only way to destroy old favorites is to refavorite then unfavorite, but this defeats the purpose of deleting as it makes your old favorites even more salient to other users.
A corollary to this: If someone else blocks you, you can't even refavorite and then unfavorite tweets by users who blocked you. Others can see the their tweets in your favorites, but you can't see them or destroy them via the API. Why would people block me? Because I was refavoriting & unfavoriting old tweets and people found that annoying.
