Markdown-specific keybinding

aixnr opened this issue · comments

Hi there, thanks for bringing Markdown support to Atom. Loving it. If I may suggest, I think it'd be useful to have Markdown-specific keybinding feature(s). As on TextMate, when it detects the grammar used as Markdown, key combos e.g. CMD+B bolds the highlighted text, CMD+I italicized the highlighted text. Would it be possible to have the same thing on Atom?

Figured out that CMD+B invokes something else, so I'm taking "no" or "not yet possible at the moment" as the answer, but I guess it won't hurt asking for such, aite?

Thanks!

markdown-specific keybinding at work on TextMate

Hi there,

There is some confusion here. Atom itself already provides some support for Markdown (including highlighting, visualizing it in a side view, etc.). My package simply adds the ability to run markdownfmt - a markdown formatter, or pretty printer - whenever you save a Markdown document.

So, the feature you're requesting is valid, but it wouldn't belong in this package.

Perhaps atom-markdown-formatter would've been a better name for this package.

Sorry about that. I suggest you look for another package that offers Markdown editing features, or post a request on Atom discussion boards (or try to learn how to make one yourself!).
