Allow for dependency to be a directory

In the documentation it says that dependencies can be files (see attached screenshot)
If I have a number of helper scripts in utils it would be great to only have to specify the utils directory and not enumerate each contained file. If I want to only be sensitive to select files I can of course specify them individually, but allowing for whole directories would be a great convenience.
What is the behaviour of using a * wildcard?
It didn't work for me at time of posting.
