Stay within tms570 family, find one with smaller packaging since we don't use all the pins anyway, and one that can be sampled from TI
Figure out how different the TMS570LS1227PGEQ1 is from our TMS570LS1224PGEQ1.... since this one we can potentially sample from TI. Might be worth a few changes to switch to this one. Looks like most of the same features are there, need to verify pinout.
Almost identical, but x1227 has FlexRay in addition so has a few less GPIOs than the x1224. Other than these the pinout is identical. Managed to get 3 ICs sampled which is good. Need to be careful tho cause if can't get more sampled, they cost $37 each from Digikey...
Done, validated TMS570LS1227 on REV1 of VCU
