isn't the special folder a leftover from our first tries?
It totally is! However, it's currently still unclear if and how to handle with users that have JavaScript disabled. One solution could be to provide a rudimentary interface using SpecialPages. On the one side, this would be perfectly possible from a technical point of view. On the other side, perhaps it's time to drop the support for non-JS users.
