Incompatibility with new version of Google Forms?

Has anyone figured out a way to make this work with the new version of Google Forms? I'd really like to use swirl for my class but don't think I'll be able to unless I can track student progress in some way.
I believe this person is having a similar problem: swirldev/swirl#738
Have any solutions been found for this question?
